If you’re after a seaside getaway, look no further than British Columbia’s Sunshine Coast. Home to miles upon miles of rugged Pacific shoreline and a plethora of charming towns like Gibsons, you will quickly fall in love with this quintessential West Coast locale. Keep reading for our guide to spending three days in the Sunshine Coast.

Day 1: Gibsons

If you’re travelling from Vancouver, then you will likely be arriving into Langdale Ferry Terminal. From there, we recommend heading over to Gibsons and visiting one of the many breweries that can be found here. Gibsons Tapworks and The 101 Brewhouse and Distillery are two of the most popular spots. You may also want to do some shopping in town (the Gibsons Public Market is a must), or visit Molly’s Reach, the waterfront restaurant where The Beachcombers was filmed.

Day 2: Pender Harbour and Egmont

On day two, we recommend heading north and exploring the nearby towns of Egmont and Pender Harbour. Nature lovers won’t be able to get enough of this area, as you’ll find plenty of hiking trails and swimming holes up this way. We recommend attempting the 10 lake challenge (where you swim in all 10 of the region’s lakes in one day) to anyone who loves the water. Once you’ve reached Egmont, another fun activity is to book a ticket on a boat tour and cruise through the Princess Louisa Inlet, which will have you passing waterfalls and travelling alongside a stunning fjord.

Day 3: Powell River

Continue travelling up the Sunshine Coast on day three, with a visit to Powell River. This historic city offers beautiful views of the water, as well as a quaint town centre. We recommend visiting The Patricia Theatre, Canada’s longest running movie theatre, and grabbing a cup of coffee at 32 Lakes. From Powell River, you may also feel inspired to take a ferry or water taxi to Texada Island or the nearby Savary Island.

If you want to enjoy all that the Sunshine Coast has to offer, then you’ll want to book a room at the Gibsons Garden Hotel. A jumping off point for exploring the region, we combine quality service and cozy accommodation with a scenic and convenient location.
