If you’re planning a visit to the Sunshine Coast in January and are looking for fun and interesting things to do, you’ll find more than just beautiful and stunning scenery in Gibsons, BC. There are many entertaining events that are taking place in this charming coastal town to make your new year's getaway a truly memorable one. Here are a few upcoming events you'll definitely want to check out.

Storytelling - Words & Images with Christina Leist

If you have the kids in tow and are looking for fun and inspiring activities, there's nothing like listening to interesting stories to engage both adults and children. On January 18 from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm, Vancouver children’s author and illustrator, Christina Leist, will be at the Gibsons Library for a storytelling session and will be running through a few imagination and doodling exercises with the little ones. This event is free to attend and is suitable for children from kindergarten to grade 3.

Clothing Swap

Those who love the thrill of the hunt should make their way over to the clothing swap taking place on January 22 from 5 pm to 7:30 pm at the Gibsons & District Public Library. Bring along any unwanted clothing and accessory items that are clean and in good repair. Donate those and then shop around for something new to love. This is definitely the case where something old can be something new and wonderful for someone else.

Grateful Dead Tribute

Calling all deadheads - on January 24 at the Gibsons’ branch of The Royal Canadian Legion - get ready for an epic show worthy of any Grateful Dead fan. The Grateful Dead Tribute band is set to hit the stage at 8 pm to keep the crowd dancing and celebrating all night. The cost per ticket is $8 for members of the Legion and $15 for non-members.

David Gogo Band

On January 25, High Beam Dreams presents award-winning guitarist David Gogo. He'll be playing the fabulous blues to help beat back the blues that often settles in this time of year. Doors open at 7 pm with the show starting at 7:30 pm. The early bird cost is $30 per person, otherwise the cost is $40 and tickets purchased at the door will be $45.
