Sunshine Coast Festival Of The Performing Arts | Now until May 12
Hosted by its namesake non-profit organization, the Sunshine Coast Festival of the Performing Arts is the longest running festival on the Sunshine Coast. Currently celebrating its 46th year, this much-loved event provides opportunities for local performers to receive mentorship from revered professionals from all over Canada and show off their talents to fellow locals and visitors alike. This year’s festival performances are already underway, but there are still plenty of upcoming shows to enjoy, such as pianist performances at the Sunshine Coast Arts Centre from April 29 to May 1, band performances at the Chatelech Theatre on May 2, and many more.
Gibsons Landing Jazz Festival | June 21 - June 23
If you love jazz music, don’t miss the Gibsons Landing Jazz Festival this June 22nd to 23rd! This community festival is a great event that promotes jazz music, enhances cultural awareness, supports local talent, and ultimately just brings the community together. If you can’t get enough of jazz, be sure to check out Gibsons’ “Jazz Week” in the days leading up to the festival weekend, when local restaurants and other venues will host live musicians to give a sneak peek and promote the event. Music In The Landing | June 29 - August 31
The music continues in Gibsons all summer long with the Music in the Landing series, which presents free concerts in the park at Gibsons Landing. These family-friendly performances are totally free. What better way is there to spend a summer day than gathering a picnic blanket and some snacks and enjoying free live music in the sunshine? Bring the family, go on a date, or just enjoy the tunes and atmosphere by yourself for a summer well-spent.
